There are some small town trends that will go on for generations in Rushville. Whether you once called Rushville home, or you still do, I believe these "side effects" of living in Rushville will be quite relatable!

1. You've been on a first date to Pizza King....

If your crush doesn't like Pizza King, are they even worth dating?

2. Your diet during fair week consists mostly of Maple Links...

Sure, funnel cakes and elephant ears are tasty, but is there really anything as good as the maple links you can get from J&D Catering?!

3. You get excited thinking about french fries and strawberry Mountain Dew from Just Rite...

I bet you will go to Just Rite and order a small fry and a strawberry Mountain Dew as soon as you finish reading this list...

4. Your ideal location for a wedding reception is the Root Building...

It may not be the fanciest place to have a wedding reception, but many couples in our community have celebrated their wedding day in the Root Building!

5. You had no clue how to "Whip and Neigh Neigh" until you saw your local City Councilman's viral video that had 1.4 million views...

Brian Sheehan....enough said...

6. Your year has two seasons: when Stagg's is open, and when it isn't...

There is nothing more satisfying than going to Stagg's when they open for the summer, and there is nothing more bittersweet than going to Stagg's before they close for the winter...

7. Your ideal Summer Sunday is spent kayaking down the Flatrock River...

There is nothing more peaceful and relaxing than floating down the Flatrock River. Don't have kayaks? Go visit Curtis Brothers Furniture to rent some!

8. Your favorite concert venue is Riverside Park Amphitheater...

It's the most beautiful park in the area, the bands are talented, and the concerts are FREE! What more could you want?!

9. You have a lion guarding your home...

A few concrete lions turned into a pride of hundreds of them. A cruise around Rushville shows just how proud we are to be the "Home of the Lions."

10. You spend St. Patrick's Day with a leprechaun named John McCane...

Governor Eric Holcomb came to Rushville to experience our St. Patrick's Day celebration which is second-to-none! It helps having our very own leprechaun!

12. You don't think of small people when you hear of midget races in town...

Tony Stewart, the Rushville Rocket, got his start on our dirt track and midget races continue to be a staple of the Rush County Fair and our Independence Day events.

13. You know who Wendell Willkie is...

For the past 3 years, Rushville citizens have gotten to know the 1940 Republican Presidential Candidate and Rushville Native quite well with our 30 foot tall tribute.

14. You don't have to go far to get tractor parts...

Rush County is one of only a few communities in North America that can claim a Case IH, John Deere, and Massey Ferguson dealership all in one county.

15.  You've seen a movie at the Princess Theatre...

For nearly 50 years, the Princess Theater was open for business. Within the next few years, thanks to a partnership with Wolf Theaters, the Princess Theater will open its doors again!

16. You've watched the Lady Lions win a sectional title...

Chances are, if you went to high school in Rushville after 1979, the Lady Lions have won a sectional title while you were at RCHS. Our Lady Lions have won more sectional champions (31) than any other program in the state! Go Lady Lions!

17. You enjoy fireworks in August...

The Pioneer Engineer's Club Steam Engine Show brings in the largest crowd of steam engines in the country. Their spark show is the highlight of the weekend for many!

18. You can't help but feel pride for your community when you hear the word "stellar!"

Rushville is truly a "stellar" place to call home!

Share if you have felt some of these side effects!
